Last Sunday, PPEL was at the Industrial Parkway roundabout which is our native plant roadside test site. We were weed whacking rat-tail fescue, a Euro Asian species. And we welcomed a new member for the summer – Lily Bentley – a Three Rivers College student majoring in Environmental Engineering and Technology.
Lily has initiated a “soil to seed contact” test on a 3 ft section at the Industrial Parkway island. One part has a prepared soil surface with no competing vegetation while the second has some turf grass and Prairie dock vegetation. Which side do you think will have more robust seedlings?
